Biography:

The Tauntaun is a reptomammal animal species native to the icy planet Hoth in the Star Wars universe.

They are bipedal creatures covered in thick white fur, adapted to survive in extreme cold. Tauntauns are used by the Rebel Alliance at Echo Base as mounts for patrols, due to their ability to navigate the harsh terrain.

The Tauntaun's first appearance is in the film *Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back* (1980). A memorable scene involves Han Solo using a dead Tauntaun's body to keep Luke Skywalker warm after he is injured during the film.
